Upon their return to Valdebebas, the Whites showed no novelties. David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger, the two players closest to being able to rejoin, continue with their respective recovery processes, so neither of the two will be available for the match in Pamplona. In Rüdiger's case, the situation was quite predictable. The German defender got injured during the team's visit to Espanyol's field: he suffered a strain in his right hamstring. A recovery period of two to three weeks was estimated. These two weeks are completed this Saturday, so, considering his progress, he could be ready for the match on Wednesday against Manchester City. The team's next match is on Sunday the 23rd against Girona at the Santiago Bernabéu (16:15 hours), which would give him some rest between one match and the other. However, as is usual in these cases, it will be the medical team, in coordination with the coach, who will make the final decision regarding the German defender's return.

Ancelotti already mentioned in the post-match press conference the possibility of recovering the German center-back: "Clearly, for the return leg, we need Rüdiger and Alaba, I believe they will return for it. But the more emergency, the more sacrifice. It happened last year and it happened this year. It has been a bit surprising, I didn't think at this moment the team could have such a sacrifice".
