The midfielder of UD Las Palmas has appeared before the media to confirm that he has relapsed from Hodgkin's lymphoma and will miss the rest of the season:

"I want to thank the club, all the people and executives who are here, they have been very important to me in the club, supporting me and embracing me at all times. I want to thank the coaching staff and the players who have respected my decision not to be here because I believe they need to focus on what is important, which is Saturday's match. I apologize for calling you once again here and not allowing questions to be asked, but with all the hot topics and the moment, with how much you like gossip, it was not the time to allow questions because if for the second time we have not managed to respect someone's privacy and the right to comment and say what needs to be said, I could not allow questions, I think you know me, you know I am quite transparent. For a month now, I have been having routine tests since I had cancer, I have to undergo tests every six months. At the beginning of January, I had blood work done and as time went by and the week passed, the hematologist was a bit concerned as she noticed that the values were not right, so I had to undergo other tests like a biopsy. Yesterday, the hematologist informed me, she called me at 12:30 and told me that I have had a relapse of cancer, that the disease has returned, that I have to stop again for another six months and go through chemotherapy treatment again and fight against the disease. I wanted to be the one to tell you again, to explain the whole situation. It's my turn to stop again, to fight against this disease and like the last time, I say the same message, I hope to see you again in 25-26. I am certain that we will meet again, I am 100% convinced because I believe in the club and the players, it will be in the First Division and we will all be happy to see each other again.
