FC Barcelona and LaLiga will face each other in the Commercial Court number 10 of Barcelona on Monday, December 23rd, in a decisive hearing to determine the future of Dani Olmo. The Catalan club has resorted to ordinary justice seeking a provisional registration of the player, in a process similar to the one that was resolved in 2023 with Gavi. The club is advocating for the player's right to work, the same argument that convinced the judge in the past. If no agreement is reached during the hearing, the judge will issue his resolution on Friday, December 27th. Barcelona will have until December 31st as the deadline to complete the registration of their star signing and Eurocup champion.

What will happen if the judge dismisses it?

If the judicial decision is unfavorable, the scenario will become critical. Olmo has a release clause that would allow him to break his contract if not registered, a looming threat that pressures Joan Laporta's board. Confidence reigns within the club, although they also acknowledge that if not resolved in time, the situation could become complicated. As alternatives, Laporta considers known financial solutions, such as the contract with Nike or the sale of 49% of Barça Vision, although he does not rule out drastic measures like terminating Marc-André Ter Stegen's contract, who is seriously injured with little possibility of returning this season. The captain's absence would free up salary space and prevent a major crisis surrounding Dani Olmo.

Laporta's Statements

During the traditional Christmas lunch with the media, Joan Laporta acknowledged that the registration of Dani Olmo remains unresolved. "We are working on all possible options. We want to be optimistic, but we don't hide that it is a complicated matter," pointed out the Blaugrana president, who reiterated the importance of reaching an agreement with Nike at the Assembly next Saturday. The approval of said agreement could bring the club closer to the salary requirements imposed by LaLiga.

Furthermore, Laporta issued an optimistic message in a sporting context, trying to calm the waters after the team's recent stumbles. "It's as if the League is starting now. We must look ahead and face each game as a Champions League final." He also called on the fans to strengthen their support for the team in home matches, where the Blaugranas need to gain ground to not fall behind in the title race.

Fantasy Recommendation

Things would have to go very wrong for Barcelona not to manage to register Dani Olmo, therefore, we trust that the situation will be resolved, as it is in the interest of all parties involved in this thorny puzzle.
