Valencia suffers a new setback: their captain, José Luis Gayà, has been injured and will not be able to play for the remainder of the year, missing the matches against Valladolid, Espanyol, and Alavés due to a hamstring microrupture.  

Gayà was injured during the first half of the match against Rayo Vallecano, although he managed to hold on until halftime. In the locker room, he informed Baraja and his coaching staff of the discomfort in his hamstring and decided not to continue.  

This morning, medical tests confirmed the microrupture in the hamstring, so he will be out for 2 to 3 weeks. This will prevent him from participating in the remaining matches of 2024, but he could return in the postponed match against Real Madrid, provisionally scheduled for January 2.
