One was pure breed, bursts of fury in the middle of the Pyrenees that would lift you off the sofa like a spring, the other, impassive and cool, would climb his 90 kilograms to the summits of the Alps with astonishing calmness. Both left the winding French roads strewn with sporting corpses of blond hair and blue eyes for greater national pride, leaving the national press without words to praise such feats.
