The return to the field of play for David Alaba (32 years old) remains uncertain, although at least there is now a prediction that he could be available at the beginning of January. This would significantly change the landscape at the club. With Alaba recovered, the urgency to sign a central defender in the winter transfer market would disappear, as the Austrian would join Rüdiger and the option to use Tchouameni in that position. Additionally, there would be the reinforcement of Asensio.  

These are good news for both Alaba and Ancelotti. The club is increasingly sharing images of the defender training at a faster pace. At the beginning of this month, he even started working with the ball, almost eleven weeks after his injury.  

In Real Madrid, they choose to be cautious about the exact date of his return, as there have been several delays (first expected in October, then in November). However, now his return is glimpsed for the beginning of 2025, which would be a relief for a defense heavily punished by injuries. Alaba will turn 33 next June, just before entering the final year of his contract. The club will evaluate his performance in this second half of the season to make a decision about his future.
