Injuries continue to be a recurring issue for Villarreal this 24/25 season. Several players have suffered muscle problems, especially in the attacking line. The latest addition to this list is Ayoze Pérez, who got injured this Sunday during the last training session of the National Team before Monday's match against Switzerland in the Nations League. The player from Tenerife left practice holding his hand to his leg and will miss a match that held special meaning for him. Pending the official medical report, the former Betis player is doubtful for the team's upcoming matches.
He will not be able to play at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López, a stadium where Ayoze was looking forward to returning with excitement to reminisce about old times.
The forward had previously suffered a muscle injury during matchday 7, where he scored a brace against Espanyol. That time he was out for a month, missing three league matches (Las Palmas, Real Madrid, and Getafe). Now, his absence could extend between two and three weeks, depending on the extent of the quadriceps tear. It is almost certain that he will not be available for the matches against Osasuna at El Sadar and Girona at La Cerámica. So far, Ayoze has been the standout player for the 'submarine yellow', with ten goals in ten matches (seven in the league and three in the Copa del Rey).
The player from Tenerife joins other teammates who have also returned injured, such as Thierno Barry, Álex Baena, and Nicolas Pépé. Gerard Moreno, on the other hand, continues with his gradual recovery, while Ilias Akhomach, after suffering a cruciate ligament tear, said goodbye to the season.
